The Bears fell 17-9 and 8-7 Tuesday in a pair of non-conference games at Pearl River.

Pearl River led 10-0 in game one before the Bears got on the board with seven runs in the top of the 5th inning to close to within 10-7. Highlighting the inning for the Bears were a two-RBI single by Mason Barker, the second of his three hits in the game, and a run-scoring single from Brady Tynes.

With the score 15-7 in the top of the 6th, Kolin Thompson drove in a run with a base hit (he also doubled in the game) to make it 15-8.

An Ajani Johnson sacrifice fly in the top of the 7th accounted for the Bears' final run of the game.

Chase Guitreau took the loss on the mound, allowing three runs on two hits and two walks in 2 innings of work. He struck out one batter.

Easton Porter had two singles while Johnson had a double.

In game two, the Bears took a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st on Tynes' RBI base hit. Pearl River (10-2) then scored twice in the bottom of the frame to go up 2-1.

In the top of the 2nd, a Gage Gregory RBI double put the Bears back on top 3-2. The lead was short-lived, however, as Pearl River tied the game at 3-3 with a run in the bottom of the inning.

With Pearl River leading 4-3 in the top of the 4th, Johnson walked and scored on a fielder's choice and Tynes drove in a run with a hit to give the Bears a 5-4 lead. Pearl River answered with two of their own in the bottom of the frame to reclaim the lead, 6-5.

The Bears took their final lead of the game, 7-6, in the top of the 5th on Porter's two-run homer to centerfield.

Two singles, a double and a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 7th gave Pearl River the winning runs.

Braxton Cooksey took the loss on the mound, allowing a run on two hits in 0.1 innings.

Presley Hall singled twice for the Bears (1-7).

The Bears return to the diamond on March 2 when they open MACCC conference play at Co-Lin. The first pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 3:00.
