Lady Bears win two at Mississippi Delta

The Lady Bears took a pair from the host Mississippi Delta Lady Trojans Tuesday afternoon in Moorhead, winning game one 9-1 while taking the finale 5-1.

The teams were scoreless until the 3^rd inning in the opener when a two-out RBI double by Mel Lewis, the first of her two hits, scored Jenna Brock who was on base with a single

After Mississippi Delta (0-4) tied the game at 1-1 in their half of the 4^th, the Lady Bears exploded for five runs in the top of the 6^th to take a 6-1 lead.

A Bailey Buckley one-out, two-run homer to left highlighted the Lady Bears' 6^th. Also scoring on the play was Brock who was on base with her third hit of the game.

The Lady Bears (3-1) added their final runs in the top of the 7^th on a double from Shelby Mason, her second hit of the game, and sacrifice flies from Lewis and Anna Claire Crow.

Jensen Gremillion picked up the win in the circle, allowing a run on three hits while striking out 10.

Halee Jenkins had a pair of hits for the Lady Bears.

The Lady Bears took a 1-0, 1^st inning lead in game two when Brock led off with a base hit and scored two batters later on Buckley's line out. Brock would later add another hit.

Jenkins' sacrifice fly in the 4^th and a Madison Moak RBI single in the 5^th extended the Lady Bears' lead to 3-0.

After the hosts made the score 3-1 in the bottom of the 5^th, the Lady Bears ended the scoring with two more of their own in the top of the 6^th on a two RBI double from Mikenzi Authement. It was Authement's second two bagger of the game.

Jade Latham was the winning pitcher, giving up a run on five hits in 4.2 innings in the circle. She struck out seven batters.

Mason had two singles for the Lady Bears.

The Lady Bears are next scheduled to take the field on February 12 in Oxford as they face Arkansas State (1:00) and Mississippi Delta (3:00) in the Mississippi Delta Tournament.
