Bears take two from Louisiana College JV

The Bears made the long trip to Pineville, LA, worth the trip Monday when they returned home with 7-2 and 5-1 wins over the Louisiana College Wildcats JV squad.
 
The Bears took a 5-0 third-inning lead in the opener. Cody Ellzey walked with the bases-loaded to score one run while Britt Netterville had a two-RBI single and
Mason Barker scored a pair with a two-out double.
 
After the Wildcats scored a run in the bottom of the third, the Bears answered with an RBI-single from DJ Lewis, his second hit of the game, in the top of the fourth to move out to a 6-1 lead.
 
The Wildcats would plate their final run of the game in their half of the fourth to make the score 6-2.
 
The final run of the game came in the Bears' seventh when Netterville doubled to start the frame and later scored on a wild pitch.
 
Keith McKigney picked up the win on the mound, surrendering two runs on four hits. He struck out 10 batters.
 
Ajani Johnson had a double for the Bears (4-9).
 
The Bears scored the only runs they would need in the finale when Barker's three-run blast over the leftfield fence put them on top 3-0 in the first inning.
 
The Wildcats made it 3-1 with their only run of the game in the bottom of the second.
 
Parker Sharff singled to centerfield in the top of the sixth for the Bears to drive in the final runs of the game.
 
Jack Hilton picked up the win on the mound. In 4.2 innings of work, he allowed an unearned run on five hits and four walks while striking out six. Jacob McDaniel allowed three hits and struck out two in 2.1 innings to record the save.
 
Netterville had two singles in the game.
 
The Bears are next scheduled to take the field on Wednesday when they host Kellogg Community College for a 2:00 twinbill.
