Bears drop a pair in Baton Rouge

The Bears dropped a pair of games in Baton Rouge Saturday afternoon, failing to Northwest Mississippi Community College 7-0 and Baton Rouge Community College 5-2.

Northwest scored the only runs they would need with two in the top of the first inning.

Nicolas Scucchi took the loss on the mound, surrendering 2 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks in 3 innings of work. He struck out 2 batters. Britt Netterville had 2 singles for the Bears.

The Bears (2-6) trailed 1-0 against BRCC before scoring their only runs in the top of the 3rd inning on RBI singles from Logan Larrimore and Parker Phillips. Phillips later added another single.

BRCC sent 9 batters to the plate in their half of the 5th inning and scored 4 runs enroute to the win.

Rigell Robinson took the loss for the Bears, giving up 5 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits and a walk in 5 innings on the mound. He struck out 5 batters.

Keith McKigney doubled and singled for the Bears while DJ Lewis had a double.

The Bears return to the diamond on February 25, in Wesson, as they take on Co-Lin in game 1 of the Coca-Cola Baseball Challenge presented by Powerade. The first pitch of the single, 9-inning affair is scheduled for 6:00.
