Lady Bears cruise past Co-Lin, 60-46

With five players scoring in double figures, the Lady Bears cruised past arch-rival Co-Lin Thursday night in MACJC South Division action before a near-capacity crowd in Summit, 60-46. The Lady Bears led for all but 4:28 of the game.
 
Falling behind early, 3-0, the Lady Bears (10-3, 3-1) got back-to-back goals from Sydni Tangle and Alexus Marsh to go on top 4-3 with 5:32 left in the opening quarter. They would not trail the rest of the night.
 
A D'Mya Wilson bucket with 0:01 on the clock left the Lady Bears with a 15-5 advantage at the end of the first 10:00.
 
The Lady Bears maintained their double-digit lead throughout the second quarter and took their largest lead of the game, 28-11, on a Jolie Williams three pointer with 1:36 on the clock. They then took a 28-13 lead into intermission.
 
Co-Lin (8-5, 2-2) outscored the Lady Bears 12-5 to open the third quarter to pull to within 33-25 with 6:56 showing. The Lady Bears then quickly regrouped to outscore Co-Lin 14-6 and extend their lead to 47-31 on a Shylia McGee layup with 1:26 on the clock and carried a 47-33 lead into the final quarter.
 
In the fourth quarter, McGee's trey gave the Lady Bears a 50-33 advantage. Co-Lin would be unable to get closer than 11 points the rest of the way as the Lady Bears picked up the win.
 
"We were very pleased to have a balanced scoring attack tonight," said Lady Bears head coach Brent Harris. "This team is far from a finished product. We did some good things tonight, but we have so much room to grow."
 
Williams topped the Lady Bears' offense with 13 points. Wilson scored 11 points while McGee, Marsh and Tangle all had 10 points. Tangle also had six assists.
 
The Lady Bears made 16 of 26 free throws.
 
Co-Lin's Sha'Quandra Carter led all scorers with 14 points. She and her teammates combined to go 6-18 at the free throw line.
 
The Lady Bears return to the court on January 21 in Ellisville when they take on 11th-ranked Jones in a 5:30 South Division contest.
