Bears drop a pair at Co-Lin

The Bears suffered a pair of tough losses Tuesday night in Wesson as Co-Lin picked up 8-5 and 12-2 MACJC wins in the final round of the Coca-Cola Baseball Challenge. Game one ended after six innings.
 
An error and Michael Buck sacrifice fly gave the Bears a 1-0 first-inning lead in the opener. Co-Lin then tied the score in the bottom of the frame.
 
Down 2-1, the Bears' bats came alive in the top of the eighth with RBI singles from Buck and Trey Forsythe and a two-RBI base hit from Reid Havard putting them on top 5-2.
 
The lead would be short-lived, however, as Co-Lin scored five times in the bottom of the ninth to pick up the win.
 
Keith McKigney took the loss on the mound in relief, giving up two runs on a hit and a walk.
 
DJ Lewis had two singles for the Bears while Paco Bello and Logan Larrimore both doubled.
 
On base via a triple, Lewis scored after a dropped third strike to put the Bears (10-15, 2-10) up 1-0 in the first inning of the nightcap. Lewis would later add a single.
 
Trailing 4-1 in the top of the fourth, the Bears made the score 4-2 when Bello led off with a single and scored three batters later on an Easton Porter ground out.
 
That, unfortunately, would be as close as the Bears would get the rest of the way as Co-Lin (13-10, 6-6) went on to record the win.
 
Ethan Campo took the loss on the mound, surrendering eight runs on eight hits and three walks in 4.1 innings. He struck out three batters.
 
Larrimore doubled and singled in the game while Zach Dearman had a double.
 
The Bears return to the home diamond on Saturday, hosting the Itawamba Indians in a 1:00 conference doubleheader.
