Northeast takes a pair from Bears

The visiting Northeast Mississippi Tigers took an MACJC doubleheader from the Bears Monday afternoon, coming from behind win the opener 9-6 before getting a 7-0 win in the nightcap.
 
The Bears took a 2-0 lead in the first inning of game one when Logan Larrimore reached base on a two-out single past the shortstop and scored on Michael Buck's first-pitch homer over the left field fence.
 
Down 3-2 in the bottom of the third, the Bears got a two-out RBI base hit from Larrimore to knot the game at 3-3.
 
After Northeast (19-17, 9-11) picked up a run in the top of the fourth, the Bears took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the inning on a Cody Ellzey RBI double and a
Britt Netterville run-scoring single.
 
DJ Lewis' second hit of the game drove in a run for the Bears in their half of the sixth inning to extend their lead to 6-4.
 
Northeast then scored a single run in the top of the seventh and added what proved to be the winning runs in the top of the eighth.
 
Lane Gordon took the loss on the mound for the Bears, allowing four runs on five hits in one inning of work.
 
Zach Dearman and Tyler White both had two singles in the game.

A four-run third gave Northeast all the offense they would need in the finale.
 
Matthew Graves took the loss for the Bears, allowing four runs on four hits and a walk in three innings on the mound. He struck out one batter.
 
The Bears picked up singles from Paco Bello and Ford.
 
The Bears (12-23, 4-18) return to the home diamond for the final time in 2019 on Saturday when they host the East Mississippi Lions in a 2:00 conference doubleheader.
