Bears fall twice to 12th-ranked Jones

The Bears dropped a pair of MACJC games Wednesday afternoon to the visiting 12th-ranked Jones Bobcats, 12-2 and 11-0.
 
Trailing 3-0 in the opener, the Bears made it 3-1 in the bottom of the second inning when Logan Larrimore reached base after being hit by a pitch with one out and scored two batters later on a Britt Netterville base hit.
 
In the bottom of the fifth, Reid Havard reached base with a one-out walk and later scored the Bears' final run of the game on a wild pitch to make the score 8-1. Jones would go on to add four additional runs.
 
Jack Hilton took the loss on the mound, allowing eight runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out two batters. Zach Dearman had a double in the game.
 
The Bears (11-18, 3-13) were limited to a third-inning single by Nathan Yennie as Jones (23-7, 8-6) captured the finale.
 
Ethan Campo took the loss for the Bears, surrendering six runs on seven hits in 1.1 innings. He struck out two batters.
 
The Bears are next scheduled to take to the diamond on Saturday in Clarksdale where they will face the Coahoma Tigers. The first pitch of the conference twin bill is set for 12:00.
