Bears split home twin bill with East Central

The Bears split an MACJC twin bill with the visiting East Central Warriors Wednesday evening, coming from behind to win the opener 5-4 before falling 11-1 in the six-inning nightcap.
 
The Bears trailed 4-0 after five innings of game one before beginning their comeback.
 
A bases-loaded single from Michael Buck gave the Bears their first run and Logan Larrimore followed with a two-RBI base hit, also with the bases loaded, to bring the home team to within 4-3.
 
A run-scoring triple from DJ Lewis, his second hit of the game, in the Bears' seventh tied the game. Buck's single to left field then sent Lewis across the plate with what proved to be the winning run.
 
Gage Kiser pitched four nearly-perfect innings in relief, surrendering no hits or walks in retiring 12 of the 13 batters he faced, to pick up the win. He struck out three batters.
 
Paco Bello doubled and singled in the game for the Bears (10-11, 2-6) while Zach Dearman had two hits. Tyler White had a double in the game.
 
After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning of game two, the Bears made the score 1-1 in the bottom of the third when White led off with a single and scored three batters later when Lewis reached base on an error.
 
Unfortunately for the Bears, that would turn out to be their only run of the game. East Central (11-11, 4-4) would take the lead for good with two runs in the top of the fourth and go on to capture the win.
 
Ethan Campo received the loss on the mound, surrendering five runs (four earned) on six hits and four walks in 4.1 innings. He struck out four batters.
 
The Bears were limited to one single each from Dearman, Trey Forsythe and Britt Netterville.
 
The Bears return to action on Friday in Senatobia when they face the 18th-ranked Northwest Rangers. Game one of the conference doubleheader is set for a 2:00 first pitch.
