Lady Bears extend win streak to 10 games with sweep of Pearl River

The Lady Bears gave the home crowd plenty to cheer about Wednesday evening as they extended their winning streak to 10 games with a 7-3, 6-5 sweep of Pearl River in MACJC action.
 
Josey Nations and Madison Newman both picked up RBI singles in the first inning of game one to help the Lady Bears (16-3, 3-1) take a 3-0 lead.
 
The score went to 4-0 in the second when Josey Nations scored on a sacrifice bunt.
 
After Pearl River picked up a run in the top of the sixth, the Lady Bears used a pair of singles, a Pearl River error, two sacrifice flies and a fielder's choice to extend their lead to 7-1.
 
Pearl  River added two more runs in the top of the seventh, but left two runners on base as the Lady Bears held on for the win.
 
Jordan McNabb picked up the win in the circle, giving up one earned run on five hits and two walks in 5.1 innings of work. She struck out one batter.
 
Game two was scoreless until the third inning when Pearl River got on the board with two runs. The Lady Bears then answered with three runs in the bottom, coming via a two-run homer from Carrington Jefcoat and a Madison Gower single, to take a 3-2 lead.
 
With the score tied in the bottom of the sixth, a Pearl River error, a Tyranesha Davis double and Jefcoat single resulted in three runs, and a 6-3 lead, for the Lady Bears.
 
Pearl River (10-10, 0-4) made a comeback attempt in the top of the seventh, scoring two runs and putting runners on second and third. But, a line drive to Ryleigh McManus at third base resulted in an unassisted, game-ending double play to give the Lady Bears the win.
 
Jade Latham allowed five runs on five hits and four walks in six innings of work to pick up the win in the circle. She struck out four batters.
 
McNabb surrendered two hits and struck out one in one inning to record the save.
 
Newman had a double for the Lady Bears.
 
The Lady Bears return to action on Saturday when they travel to Moorhead to face the Mississippi Delta Lady Trojans. Game one of the conference doubleheader is set to start at 2:00.
