Bears drops doubleheader to Hinds

The Bears dropped a pair of MACJC contests to the Hinds Eagles Tuesday night in Summit, 8-1 and 4-3.
 
The Bears took a 2-0 first inning lead in the nightcap when a Michael Buck double, the first of his two hits in the game, sent DJ Lewis and Paco Bello across the plate.
 
With the score tied in the bottom of the fifth, Bello led off with a single and scored two batters later on the first of two Will Ford base hits to put the Bears on top 3-2.
 
The lead held up until the top of the seventh when Hinds (14-3, 2-0) scored a pair of runs and went on to escape with the win.
 
Keith McKigney took the loss on the mound in relief, giving up two runs on three hits. Starting pitcher Ethan Campo allowed a pair of runs on four hits and a walk in five innings. He struck out six batters. Zach Zach Dearman had a double in the game for the Bears.
 
A Lewis single that loaded the bases in the fifth inning was the only hit for the Bears in the opener. Following the hit, Reid Havard scored the home team's only run, that made the score 6-1, when Dearman reached base on a fielder's choice.
 
Jack Hilton took the loss on the mound for the Bears, allowing six runs on eight hits and a walk in five innings of work. He struck out one batter.
 
The Bears return to action on Saturday when they pay a visit to the Meridian Eagles. Game one of the doubleheader is set for a 2:00 first pitch.
