The Bears exploded for 16 hits and 12 runs Saturday afternoon in game one in Moorhead as they opened MACJC play with a 12-10 win over the host Mississippi Delta Trojans. A seventh inning home run helped the Trojans get an 8-7 win, and earn the doubleheader split, in the finale.

An RBI double from Paco Bello highlighted a three-run first for the Bears that saw them take a 3-1 lead after an inning of game one. Britt Netterville sent a 1-0 pitch over the right field fence in the top of the third for a three-run homer that saw the Bears hold a 6-4 lead after three innings.

The Bears (9-6, 1-1) led 9-5 after four innings of play. A run-scoring double from Michael Buck and a two-RBI double from Logan Larrimore, his second two-base hit of the game, accounted for the Bears' runs in the frame.

After the Trojans (9-7, 1-1) took a 10-9 lead in their half of the fifth, the Bears made the score 10-10 in the top of the sixth on Buck's leadoff homer to left field.

Netterville's RBI single, and a base of miscues by the Trojans, helped the Bears score what proved to be the winning runs in the top of the eighth inning.

Lane Gordon picked up the win in relief for the Bears, giving up a pair of hits and striking out three in 3.1 innings of work. Keith McKigney earned the save with one strikeout in just over an inning on the mound.

Zach Dearman had a double and two singles for the Bears while Will Ford singled three times. Cody Ellzey and DJ Lewis both singled twice.

A three-run homer and Ford's RBI double left the Bears with a 4-0 lead after an inning of game two.

After the Trojans scored a run in the bottom of the third, the Bears responded in the top of the fourth with Landon Stewart's line drive homer to left field that left them with a 5-1 lead.

A pair of passed balls allowed Stewart, on base via a single, and Aaron Ragsdale to cross the plate in the top of the sixth to give the Bears a 7-5 advantage.

The Bears' lead would be short-lived, however, as the Trojans tied the game in their half of the sixth and got the win with a walk-off homer in the seventh.

Rob James took the loss on the mound for the Bears, giving up a run and striking out a batter, in just over an inning of work. Lewis had two singles in the game.

The Bears return to action on March 19 when the host the Hinds Eagles. Game one of the conference twin bill is set to get underway at 3:00.
