Lady Bears win three at Holmes

The Lady Bears ran their record to 10-3 Sunday afternoon with three wins at Holmes Community College. They defeated the Arkansas State JV squad, 4-1, in the opener; they defeated the host Lady Bulldogs 6-3 in game two; and, they held on to defeat Mississippi Delta, 4-3, in the finale. All three games went only five innings.
 
A pair of Carrington Jefcoat two-RBI singles provided all the Lady Bears' runs versus Arkansas State. Jordan McNabb went the distance in the circle, giving up five hits and a run while striking out one and walking one, to pick up the win.
 
Josey Nations launched a 1-0 pitch over the center field fence in the top of the fifth for a three run homer to propel the Lady Bears to the win over Holmes.
 
Jade Latham went four innings in the circle to record the win for the Lady Bears. She surrendered an unearned run on two hits and two walks while striking out four batters. Terrah Nelson doubled and singled in the game while Jefcoat and Bailey Sartin both had a double.
 
A two-RBI single from Nations and Madison Newman's run-scoring hit in the top of the first put the Lady Bears up 3-0 over Mississippi Delta. Ryleigh McManus drove in what proved to be the winning run for the Lady Bears in their half of the fifth inning.
 
Mississippi Delta scored three runs in their half of the fifth, but left the bases loaded.
 
Allie Hunt went 4.2 innings in the circle to get the win for the Lady Bears. She allowed three runs on five hits and a pair of walks while striking out two. Latham struck out the only batter she faced in the fifth to garner a save.
 
After taking time off for Spring Break, the Lady Bears return to the diamond on March 16 when they host Mississippi Delta in a pair of makeup games. Game one is set to get underway at 1:00.
