Larsen's hat trick sends Bears to 4-0 win at Northwest

Box Score Behind a Patrick Larsen hat trick, the Bears moved to 2-0 on the season with a 4-0 win over the host Northwest Rangers Saturday afternoon in Senatobia. Larsen's three goals in the game gives him five on the young season.

Larsen scored his first goal only 2:07 into the game. Jarrett Green took the ball to the left corner and crossed it in to Larsen who flicked it and misdirected it into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.

The score went to 2-0 at 4:45 when Nate Bond chipped the ball over the top to Larsen who then scored one-on-one with the Rangers' keeper.

At the 34:37 mark, Felipe Madero drove down the right wing and crossed the ball straight to the middle of the box where Max Higginbotham one-touched it into the right corner of the goal for a 3-0 lead for the Bears.

At 68:33, Marcus Connolly split two defenders and found Larsen in the box. Larsen then played the ball to the far post of the right corner to complete the hat trick.

"Two games in two days was a tall task," said Bears' head coach Alex Brown, "but, my boys were up to it. We have a couple of things to clean up, but we're going back to Summit with two wins so we're happy with the result."

Speaking of Larsen, Brown said, "Patrick is so clinical; all he knows how to do is score goals. He doesn't try to do too much. His job is to put the ball in the back of the net and he's done it five times in two days. We're very happy with his production."

Keepers Conner Smothers (five saves in 74:57 in goal) and Ean Sherman (two saves in 25:03 in goal) combined for the shutout.

The Bears return to action on August 28 in Ridgeland when they visit the Holmes Bulldogs in a 4:00 match.
