The Bears closed out their season in grand style Saturday in Scooba with an MACJC doubleheader sweep of the East Mississippi Lions. The Bears took game one 8-4 while four pitchers combined for a one-hit, 4-0 win in the nightcap.

After falling behind 2-0 in the first inning of game one, the Bears made it 2-1 in the top of the second when
T Tez Cole led off with a double and scored three batters later on a Kyle Singleton ground out.

The Bears (14-27, 10-18) held a 3-2 lead after six innings.
Payton Yawn's RBI double in the fifth, the first of his two hits in the game, sent one run across the plate while Cole scored the other on a leadoff homer over the centerfield fence.

Will Ford started the Bears seventh inning with a walk and scored three batters later on a Michael Buck ground out to put the Bears on top 4-2. The Lions then knotted the game at 4-4 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame.

Singleton got the Bears' eighth inning off with a double up the middle, his second two-bagger of the game. Scoring later on a wild pitch, he put the Bears on top for good, 5-4.

The Bears added the final runs of the game in the top of the ninth.
Paco Bello's third hit of the game, a double to centerfield, drove two runs across the plate. Singleton then scored Bello on a triple to right field.

Cody Miller picked up the win in relief, surrendering two hits while striking out three, in 2.2 innings on the mound. Buck and Ford both had a single for the Bears.

The Bears took a 1-0 first-inning lead in the finale when Yawn led off with a single and scored two batters later on a Cole base hit. In the top of the fourth, singles from Cole and
Isaiah Davis resulted in a 2-0 score.

The final runs of the season for the Bears came in the top of the sixth inning. A wild pitch allowed pinch-runner
Aaron Ragsdale to score from third and Bello, on base via a single, to score from second.

Daren Smith picked up the win on the mound, allowing one hit while striking out seven and walking two in four innings of work. Cody Ross, Sy Odom and Mitchell Foreman each tossed one inning. Ross struck out one and walked one while Odom issued one base on balls and Foreman struck out one and gave up one hit.

Singleton singled for the Bears.
