The Lady Bears gave the 5th-ranked Jones County Lady Bobcats all they wanted Wednesday afternoon in Summit, but in the end it proved to be not quite enough as the visitors left with a 7-0, 5-4 doubleheader sweep. The twinbill marked the Lady Bears' final home games of the season.

In game one, the Lady Bears held Jones County to one hit through the first four innings of play as the teams battled to a 0-0 tie.

Jones County (39-3, 22-2) finally broke the scoreless deadlock in the top of the fifth inning, using a pair of singles and an error to move out to a 3-0 lead. They then added the final four runs of the game in the top of the sixth.

Kassie Shipley took the loss in the circle, allowing six runs (three earned) on six hits and a walk while striking out two. Terrah Nelson had two singles for the Lady Bears while Madison Parker also hit safely.

The Lady Bears (16-24, 9-19) held a 3-1 lead after the first inning of the nightcap, getting RBI singles from
Kayla McNabb and Madison Bates (Bates later added another base hit) and getting a run on a Miranda Magee steal of home.

An error, triple and sacrifice fly in the top of the third resulted in two runs for Jones County and a 3-3 tie.

A run-scoring single by
Jami Spears in the bottom of the fourth put the Lady Bears back on top, 4-3. The lead held up until the top of the sixth when a single, walk, sacrifice and sacrifice fly allowed Jones County score what proved to be the winning runs.

Jordan McNabb took the hard-luck loss for the Lady Bears, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk in 4.1 innings in the circle. She struck out two batters.
Carrington Jefcoat had a double for the Lady Bears.

The Lady Bears close out the season on Friday when they travel to Oak Villa Park in Baton Rouge to face Baton Rouge Community College. Game one of the doubleheader is set for a 1:00 first pitch.
