The Lady Bears dropped a pair of MACJC games to the Mississippi Gulf Coast Lady Bulldogs Tuesday afternoon at William Carey University, 8-1 and 7-4.

Gulf Coast held a 4-0 lead in the opener before the Lady Bears picked up their only run in the top of the fourth inning.
Kayla McNabb led off the frame with a triple to leftfield, the first of her two hits in the game, and scored later on the front end of a double steal to make the score 4-1.

Gulf Coast (15-11, 10-8) would go on to add two runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth to capture the win.

Kassie Shipley took the loss in the circle for the Lady Bears, allowing eight runs (seven earned) on 11 hits and a walk in five innings. She struck out one batter.

Ashley Elsensohn led off the Lady Bears' first in the finale by reaching base on an error and scoring on a Terrah Nelson triple. Nelson then scored on a ground out to give the Lady Bears (14-22, 7-17) a 2-0 advantage.

Gulf Coast tied the game at 2-2 on a two-run homer in their half of the second. They then added two more runs in the fourth and three in the sixth to move out to a 7-2 lead.

The Lady Bears made a comeback attempt in the top of the seventh, scoring their final runs to reach the final score.
Carrington Jefcoat led off with a single and scored three batters later on an error. Melanie Crum, on base with a one-out double, scored on the following play after another Gulf Coast error.

The would, unfortunately, be the last runs the Lady Bears would score as Gulf Coast held on for the narrow win.

Mikaela Smith gave up three runs on six hits and a pair of walks in four innings in the circle to take the loss for the Lady Bears. She struck out two batters.

Nelson had a single for the Lady Bears.

The Lady Bears return home for their next contests, hosting the East Mississippi Lady Lions Friday for a 3:00 twinbill.
