A wild day at the ballpark saw the Bears sweep the visiting Mississippi Delta Trojans in MACJC action Saturday, winning both games by identical 6-5 scores. Game two went eight innings.

With the sweep, the Bears moved to 7-10 overall and 4-2 in the MACJC. The Trojans fell to 8-13, 0-4.

The Trojans held a 4-0 lead after two innings of the opener.
Michael Buck's base hit in the bottom of the third scored Payton Yawn, on base with a single, to make the score 4-1. Yawn also had a double in the game.

Yawn reached on an error to start the Bears' seventh inning, and later scored on a wild pitch.
Paco Bello followed Yawn with a base hit and later scored on a passed ball to cut the Trojans' lead to 4-3.

A two-out triple and passed ball allowed the Trojans to extend their lead to 5-3 in the top of the ninth.

In the bottom of the ninth,
Will Ford and Zach Dearman reached on back-to-back walks and scored on Buck's line-drive double to left field (the last of his three hits). Three batters later, and with two outs, Isaiah Davis lined a 1-1 pitch pass the shortstop (Davis' second hit of the game) to score Buck with the winning run.

Reliever
Jarid Sturgeon went two innings on the mound, giving up one run on one hit with three strikeouts, to get the win. Kyle Singleton had a double and single for the Bears.

In the nightcap, Yawn led off the Bears' first inning with a walk and scored two batters later to put the home team on top 1-0.

In the bottom of the second, Davis reached on a one-out single and Ford on a two-out base hit (Davis later added a double and Ford a second single). Davis later scored from third as part of a double steal and Ford crossed the plate on
Kyle Dillard's base hit to put the Bears up 3-0.

The score went to 5-0 in the Bears' third when Singleton, on base with a two-out double, scored on a
Reid Havard base hit and Davis, on base via a walk, scored on an error.

The Bears seem to have things well in hand until the top of the seventh when the Trojans sent 10 men to the plate, and scored five runs, to knot the game at 5-5. With the Bears unable to score in the bottom of the frame, the game was forced into extra innings.

In the bottom of the eighth, an error allowed pinch runner
Aaron Ragsdale to score from first base to give the Bears the win. Ragsdale was in the game for Adam Haygood who had reached base on a fielder's choice.

Cody Miller pitched one inning, giving up one hit and striking out one, to get the win in relief.

The Bears return to action on Tuesday when they host round two of the Coca-Cola Challenge presented by Powerade with a 3:00 doubleheader against arch-rival Co-Lin.
