Four homers help Bears win game two, split DH with visiting East Mississippi

Blasting four home runs in the first three innings, the Bears closed out the regular season Saturday afternoon with a 10-4 game two win over the East Mississippi Lions and a split of their MACJC doubleheader. East Mississippi took the opener 12-6.
 
The Bears also used the day to say goodbye to the team's sophomores and observe Military Appreciation Day.
 
East Mississippi took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first in the nightcap. In the bottom of the frame, Brantley Hughes walked with one out before Scooter Ginn sent a 2-2 pitch flying over the left field fence to put the Bears on top 2-1.
 
East Mississippi (25-17, 15-13) used a pair of single to score a run and tie the game at 2-2 in the top of the second.
 
The Bears (16-29, 5-23) exploded for eight runs and a 10-2 lead in their half of the third inning. T Tez Cole, Austin Moen and Ray Hutchinson hit back-to-back-to back homers-Ginn and Hughes both scored on Cole's shot, his second hit of the game. Fidel Bello added a two-RBI double and Andrew Beesley had a run-scoring single.
 
Three singles and a passed ball resulted in the final two runs of the game for East Mississippi in the top of the fourth.
 
Sophomore Tyler Pigott picked up the win in his final game for the Bears. Going five innings, he surrendered four runs (two earned) on seven hits and five walks while striking out six.
 
John Marcus McDowell had two doubles in the game while Hughes singled twice.
 
Hutchinson's two-run homer to left and an RBI triple from Beesley gave the Bears a 3-0 advantage in the bottom of the second in game one. Hutchinson would later add a double.
 
After East Mississippi scored twice in the top of the third, the Bears got a two-RBI single from Crishaun Speight and a RBI double from McDowell to extend their lead to 6-2 in the bottom of the frame.
 
East Mississippi sent seven batters to the plate in the top of the fourth, and scored three runs to narrow the Bears' lead to 6-5.
 
A walk, error and sacrifice fly allowed East Mississippi to knot the game at 6-6 in the top of the sixth. They then took a 9-6 lead in their half of the seventh and scored three more in the top of the eighth to secure the win.
 
Cody Miller pitched 2.1 innings, giving up six runs (two earned) on four hits and a walk to take the loss for the Bears. Miller struck out one batter.
 
Moen had a double and two singles in the game while. Alex Smith doubled and singled while Chance Groue also added a single.
