Lady Bears split road twin bill at Hinds

The Lady Bears split an MACJC road doubleheader at Hinds Community College Tuesday afternoon, winning the finale 6-2 after falling 3-1 in game one.
 
Madison Parker and Rebecca Davis both had RBI singles for the Lady Bears in the top of the first inning in game two. A fielder's choice allowed another run to score to put the Lady Bears up 3-0. Parker would go on to record two more singles.
 
The Lady Bears (17-20, 13-9) made it 6-0 in the second inning. Gianca Holmes led off with a single (she would later add another base hit) and later scored on Amy Bonvillain's base hit. Bonvillain later on a fielder's choice and Holmes scored on an error.
 
Hinds (11-28, 6-16) made the score 6-1 with a run in the bottom of the third and scored their final run in the bottom of the fifth.
 
Davis got the complete-game win in the circle, surrendering two earned runs on five hits and two walks. She struck out two batters.
 
Jordan Fitzgerald had two hits in the game.
 
Hinds held a 2-0 lead in the opener before the Lady Bears made it 2-1 on Fitzgerald's lead-off homer to left field, her second hit of the game, in the top of the fifth. Hinds would add the final run of the game in the bottom of the fifth.
 
Kassie Shipley took the loss in the circle, giving up three runs (one earned) on six hits and a pair of walks. She struck out two batters.
 
Bonvillain had two hits in the game while Kristie Sanchez also hit safely.
 
The Lady Bears return to the diamond on Thursday when they host Northwest in a 3:00 conference twin bill.
