Lady Bears sweep Coahoma, 10-0, 8-4, on Sophomore Day

The Lady Bears made Sophomore Day one to remember Saturday afternoon as they swept the visiting Coahoma Lady Tigers 10-0 and 8-4 in MACJC action. Game one ended after five innings.
 
Miranda Magee put the Lady Bears (16-15, 12-4) put the Lady Bears on top 1-0 in the bottom of the third when she send a full-count pitch over the fence in left field.
Jenna Duff, on base via a double, scored on an error and Jeney Hudson, on base courtesy another error, scored on Amy Bonvillain's base hit to give the Lady Bears a 3-0 lead after three.
 
The Lady Bears sent 11 batters to the plate in the bottom of the fourth and scored seven times to move out to a 10-0 advantage. The big blows in the inning came on Gianca Holmes' three-run homer to right field and Bonvillain's solo shot to right. Bonvillain also had a single in the game.
 
Kassie Shipley, gave an excellent account of herself in the circle to get the win, allowing only one hit and issuing only one walk in her five innings of work. She struck out five batters.
 
Hudson singled twice in the game whileKristie Sanchez doubled. Kelcey Bremenkamp and Jordan Fitzgerald both had a single.
 
The Lady Bears trailed 1-0 before getting on the board in the bottom of the first in the finale. Magee reached on an error to start the frame and scored two batters later when Duff reached on another error.
 
The Lady Tigers (2-26, 0-16) used a single, stolen base and fly ball out to regain the lead, 2-1, in the top of the second.
 
The Lady Bears responded by sending 12 batters to the plate, and scoring six runs, to regain the lead for good at 8-2. Magee doubled to drive in one run. Bremenkamp's double, the first of her two hits in the game, scored one. Duff, Hudson and Fitzgerald each had an RBI base hit while Hudson scored on an error. Duff later added another hit.
 
The Lady Tigers added their final two runs in the top of the seventh.
 
Rebecca Davis got the win in the circle, giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits while striking out one. Mikaela Smith allowed two runs on three hits while striking out one batter.
 
Kayla Sanchezand Kristie Sanchez both had a single.

The Lady Bears remain at home for their next contests, hosting 5th-ranked Mississippi Gulf Coast on April 5. Game one is scheduled to get underway at 3:00.
