Lady Bears split conference doubleheader at East Mississippi

The Lady Bears split an MACJC doubleheader in Scooba Sunday afternoon, defeating the East Mississippi Lady Lions 3-1 in the finale after dropping the opener 5-2.
 
Jeney Hudson put the Lady Bears (11-14, 7-3) on top 1-0 in game two when her single to left field scored Amy Bonvillain from third. Bonvillain reached base on a fielder's choice to start the game.
 
The score went to 2-0 in the top of the third when Miranda Magee singled to start the frame and later scored from third on a balk. She later added a second base hit.
 
A base hit, sacrifice bunt, error and fielder's choice in the bottom of the third resulted in the only run of the game for the Lady Lions (10-13, 7-1) and narrowed their deficit to 2-1.
 
The final run of the game crossed the plate in the top of the fourth when the Lady Bears' Kelcey Bremenkamp led off with a base hit past second base and scored three batters later on Gianca Holmes' sacrifice fly.
 
Rebecca Davis got the complete-game win in the circle, giving up an unearned run on four hits and a walk. She struck out four batters.
 
Morgan Webb doubled and singled for the Lady Bears while Bonvillain and Jordan Fitzgerald both had one single.
 
The Lady Bears trailed 5-0 in game one before getting on the board in the top of the sixth. Fitzgerald singled with one out, stole second and scored on Bremenkamp's second hit of the game, a double to left field, to make the score 5-1.
 
Webb got the Lady Bears' seventh inning started with a line-drive double to left field. Two batters later, Webb scored what proved to be the final run of the game on Magee's double to centerfield.

 Kassie Shipley took the loss in the circle, surrendering five runs (three earned) on five hits and three walks in six innings of work. She struck out two batters. Jenna Duff had a single in the game.
 
The Lady Bears return to action on March 22 with a conference doubleheader at Pearl River Community College. Game one is scheduled for a 3:00 first pitch.
