Lady Bears drop a pair at #1 Jones County

The Lady Bears' four-game winning streak came to an end in Ellisville Tuesday as they dropped a doubleheader to top-ranked Jones County, 10-2 and 17-0. Both games ended after five innings.
 
A bases-loaded ground out allowed Jones County (20-0, 4-0) to take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first in game one. The score went to 2-0 in the home half of the third.
 
The Lady Bears (8-13, 4-2) got their only hits and runs of the game in the top of the fourth. With one out and Miranda Magee on base via a single, Jenna Duff blasted a 1-1 pitch over the fence in left field to tie the game at 2-2.
 
Jones County answered with three runs in the bottom of the fourth to go up 5-2. They then ended the game with a five-run fifth.
 
Lady Bears' starting pitcher Kassie Shipley went 2.1 innings in the circle, giving up only a hit and two runs (one earned) while striking out two and walking two, before being forced from the game due to an injury. Rebecca Davis threw two innings, surrendering eight runs (four earned) on three hits and seven walks while striking out a pair. Jordan Harp also spent time in the circle.

Jones County took a 2-0 first-inning lead enroute to the game-two win.

The Lady Bears were limited to a pair of Kelcey Bremenkamp base hits.Mikaela Smith allowed seven runs (six earned) on seven hits, with one strikeout, in 1.1 innings in the circle to take the loss

The Lady Bears take a couple of days off before returning to action Friday with a 3:00 conference doubleheader against Mississippi Delta.
