Despite Magee's big day, Lady Bears drop three in Sun Chief Classic

Day one of the Sun Chief Classic in Gulf Shores, AL, did not go as the Lady Bears would have liked as they dropped a games to Lamar State-Port Arthur (9-1), Trinity Valley (9-4) and Southern Union State College (12-11).
 
The Lady Bears close out the Classic on Saturday with games against Marion Military Institute at 9:00 AM and Snead State Community College at 1:30.
 
Lamar State-
Miranda Magee launched a 0-2 pitch over the centerfield fence in the top of the first to give the Lady Bears all the runs they would get in their first game. The Lady Seahawks used four hits and an error to take a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second. They then added single runs in the third, fifth and sixth innings and four in the fourth to claim the win.
                                                                                                                     

Jordan Fitzgerald had two hits for the Lady Bears. Rebecca Davis took the loss in the circle.
 
Against the Trinity Valley Lady Cardinals, the Lady Bears took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third when Davis reached on a leadoff single and later scored on Magee's one-out hit. On base via a walk,
Morgan Webb scored when Gianca Holmes reached base on an error; Holmes then scored on another error.
 
Five hits, a hit batter, a walk and error allowed the Lady Cardinals to take a 7-3 lead in the top of the fourth. The Bears made it 7-4 in the bottom of the frame when
Mikaela Smith singled with one out and later reached home thanks to an error.
 
The Lady Cardinals picked up their final two runs in the top of the fifth.
 
Davis again took the loss in the circle for the Lady Bears. She allowed seven runs (two earned) on four hits with a walk and strikeout in 3.2 innings.
 
Versus the Lady Bison of Southern Union, the Lady Bears trailed 5-0 before getting on the board in the top of the third.
Jenna Duff doubled to drive in two runs and Magee, on base via a fielder's choice, scored on a Fitzgerald sacrifice fly to make the score 5-2.
 
The Lady Bears took went on top 6-5 in the top of the fourth when Magee blasted a bases-loaded homer. The Lady Bison responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning to reclaim the lead, 8-6.
 
Down 10-6 in the top of the sixth, the Lady Bears knotted the game at 10-10 with an RBI double from Magee and Duff's three-run homer. A homer from

Kelcey Bremenkamp then gave the Lady Bears an 11-10 advantage in the top of the seventh.
 
The Lady Bison picked up the win in the bottom of the seventh when three singles and a double resulted in a pair of runs.
 

Kassie Shipley took the loss in the circle for the Lady Bears, giving up eight runs on nine hits while walking two and striking out two.
