The Bears' chances for the playoff took a blow, although a non-fatal one, Tuesday night in Gulfport when they fell to the Mississippi Gulf Coast Bulldogs 3-1. The Bears can still secure a spot in the post-season by winning one of their final two games.

A pair of goals by Matt Edwards had the Bulldogs (10-2, 8-0 South) on top 2-0 in the first 7:24 of the game and they held the same advantage at the end of the first half.

The Bears trailed 3-0 (8-3-2, 2-3-1 South) when, taking the ball off a deflected pass, the Bears'
Ty Ware fired the ball into the goal from 20 yards out at the 70:00 mark to close the gap to 3-1. The Bulldogs went on to win by the same score.

Bears' head coach Zach Mills said he was "very disappointed in my team for getting caught sleeping the first few minutes of the game. We have a tendency to do that. When we don't and when we play together and play hard we always do really well. So, I'm glad they got back into the game a little bit. Of course, didn't help missing three starters (three of the Bears' starters are sidelined due to injury)."

Mills said he was excited about the possibility of a rematch with the Bulldogs in the upcoming playoffs. "As long as we can win one of these next two, we'll be in and we'll eventually meet them (again) I'm sure. We'll pull away what we need to from this game; we'll learn from it and we'll move on going into these two very, very important games."

The Bears host Pearl River on Saturday, beginning at 3:00, before closing out the regular season at Meridian on October 17.
