Bears win 3-1 at Northwest

Box Score After battling host Northwest Mississippi to a 1-1 halftime tie, the Bears picked up two goals in the second half to win 3-1 in Senatobia and sweep the season series with the Rangers.
 
The win, their third straight, moved the Bears to 7-3 and allowed them to tie the program record for most wins in a season.
 
The Bears took a 1-0 lead at 16:36 when Jaime Delor beat a defender and played a simple ball across the face of the goal to Morris Aitken who then finished from 10 yards out. Francisco Alisiardi also received credit for an assist on the play.
 
Less than a minute later, at 17:15, Northwest (4-3-1) tied the score on James Longmire's goal.
 
The score remained tied until 66:11 when a Northwest defensive mistake allowed Delor to blow by the defender and score in the lower right corner of the goal. The goal increased Delor's team-record for a season to 16.
 
Phillip Mallet made it 3-1 at 70:45 when he took the clearance down then took a few touches and blasted the ball into the side of the goal from 30 yards out for his first goal of the season.
 
"Once again, I'm proud of my guys for not getting down on themselves," said Bears head man Zach Mills. "After we scored our first (goal), we gave up a goal quickly. But, the team pulled together and played our game."
 
"I especially loved seeing Jaime dribble around that defender and instead of shooting, give Morris a beautiful pass for an easy finish. (It was a) very unselfish play and just another example of the team playing hard for one another (and) not for themselves. We are a family."
 
The Bears have little time to savor their win as they travel to Fulton Saturday to face the Itawamba Indians for a 3:00 non-division matchup.
