Box Score

With
Jaime Delor scoring four goals for the second straight game, the Bears withstood a second-half East Central rally to defeat the Warriors 4-2 Tuesday night in Decatur.

With eight games remaining, Delor now has a team single-season record of 15 goals (the previous record of 12 was set by Tristen Nicholson in 2015). In addition, he has a total of 33 points, also a team single-season record (the previous record of 29 was set by Marshall Ngobodi in 2009). He is also the first Southwest player to score four goals in two separate games (he scored four on September 16 at Co-Lin).

The Bears (6-3, 2-3 South) took a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute when
Francisco Alisiardi sent a good through ball to Delor who then clipped the East Central keeper for the goal. This proved to be the only goal of the first half.

The Bears made it 2-0 in the 59th minute when Delor left-footed a volley from 25 yards out after a taking a flicked ball from
Morris Aitken.

The Warriors (3-5) then seemed to come out of nowhere to tie the game at 2-2 with goals at the 64th and 76th minutes.

Scoring on a penalty kick in the 86th minute, Delor put the Bears back on top to stay at 3-2. Using his speed to blow by the Warriors' defender after receiving the ball from
Michael Escobar, Delor then scored his final goal from inside the 18 with 0:43 left to play.

"I'm very, very happy with the boys," said Bears' head coach Zach Mills. "I was really proud of the guys for not getting their heads down (after the Warriors tied the game), not worrying about outside factors, just being ready to do what they needed to do and play our game. The hard work paid off (and) we got a couple of goals. The last one was just a consolation to truly end it."

Speaking of Delor's night, Mills said, "I'm thrilled to have him not only on the field (but) he's such a good guy, a fun guy to be around and a hard-working kid. He just wants to get better and already breaking the records (goals and points) is impressive. It's nice to see the guys up top (Alisiardi, Aitken, Joey Barrick and Michael Escobar) combining, connecting and finding ways to make things happen and all of a sudden Jaime's on the end of the ball and putting it in the goal."

After the contest, Delor gave credit for his success to the other members of the team, telling Mills that "because of all my teammates, all I have to do is push it (the ball) in."

The Bears travel to Senatobia on Friday for their next contest, taking on the Northwest Mississippi Rangers at 3:00.
