Bears drop a pair of non-conference games to visiting Baton Rouge

The Bears dropped a pair of non-conference games to visiting Baton Rouge Tuesday evening, 2-1 and 13-3. The two teams will meet again Wednesday evening at 5:00, in Baton Rouge, for a single nine-inning game.

All the runs in the opener were scored in the second inning. Using a double, two singles and a hit batter, BRCC (16-23) took a 2-0 lead in the top half of the frame. The Bears picked up their run when
Steven Williams reached base on an error, moved to third on a walk to Ross Buckley and a Brady Anderson base hit and scored on a
Dylan Spiers fly out.

Jacob Buchanan took the loss on the mound. He surrendered both BRCC runs on six hits and three walks while striking out five batters.

Darian Tunstall had a double for the Bears (16-11) while L.D. Coney, Duncan Cornfoot and Spiers each had a single.

The Bears trailed 4-0 in the nightcap before getting on the board in the bottom of the second. A two-out single by
Jarvis Warnerr allowed Williams to cross the plate to make the score 4-1. Warner later doubled in the game.

The score was 10-1 in the bottom of the third when Coney tripled down the right field line and scored on a
John Marcus McDowell single to make the score 10-2.

Down 13-2, the Bears picked up their final run in the bottom of the sixth when Tunstall reached on a lead-off walk and crossed the plate when
Alex Smith made it on base via an error.

Brady Wilson pitched three innings in taking the loss for the Bears. He gave up four runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk. Kaleb Clarke had a single in the game for the Bears.
