The Bears surrendered four second-half goals Saturday night as they were defeated 4-1 by the host Mississippi Gulf Coast Bulldogs in MACJC South Division soccer play.

With the loss, the Bears dropped to 11-5 overall and 4-5 in the South. The Bulldogs moved to 13-1 and 9-0.

The Bears took a 1-0 lead at 40:01 when
Francisco Alisiardi found the ball at his feet. He then made a nice run to beat the Bulldogs' defense and slotted the ball home left-footed into the back of the net.

The Bulldogs knotted the game at 50:37 on a goal by Aarin Johnson. They then took the lead on Liam Eadsforth goal at 59:02 and went on to score two more goals.

Bears' head coach Zach Mills said he thought his team "did well, especially in the first half, putting pressure on them (the Bulldogs), making them make mistakes (which led to) us being able to take the ball down the field and putting it in the goal. It felt great and I knew the team was excited."

"But," Mills continued, "of course some things didn't go our way in the second half. Now, we've just got to regroup and take what we did well in the first half and improve on what we did in the second half for the game against Co-Lin on Tuesday." Mills said Co-Lin has "been doing really well in their last few games and we have to make sure we come prepared and ready to play."

The Bears can clinch third place in the South, and their first-ever playoff appearance with a win over their arch-rivals. Action in the South Division contest is set to get underway at 4:00.
