Lady Bears drop a pair to Hinds, split season series

The visiting Hinds Lady Eagles swept a pair of MACJC South Division contests from the Southwest Lady Bears Wednesday afternoon, 2-0 and 10-0, to split the season series. The Lady Bears picked up two wins in Raymond early in the year.
 
The Lady Bears will take a few days off before returning to action on April 8 with a home doubleheader against East Central Community College.
 
A single and Southwest error allowed Hinds to take a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning of game on Wednesday. The Lady Eagles (13-17, 7-13) added their final run in the top of the seventh, using a hit batter, single and sacrifice fly.
 
MACY FULTON took the complete-game loss in the circle despite allowing only three hits and striking out four batters. Both runs against her were unearned.
 
LEANN JACKSON and JESSIE PENTON both singled for the only Southwest hits.
 
A walk and home run put the Lady Eagles on top 2-0 in the top of the first in the finale. They added six runs in the fourth and the final two runs in the fifth.
 
MADDY TEAGUE pitched 3.2 innings in taking the loss for the Lady Bears (13-21, 3-17). She allowed eight runs, seven earned, on five hits while walking two.
 
Penton, Jackson, JESSICA PIPKINS, LEYTON TERRELL and JANA MCEWEN all singled for the Lady Bears.
