Lady Bears softball wins three of four at Bishop State

The Southwest Lady Bears opened the softball season on a high note over the weekend by taking three of four games from host Bishop State Community College in Mobile. The Lady Bears won 2-1 and 3-2 Friday afternoon. They won 7-4 Saturday afternoon before falling 6-5 in the series finale.
 
JESSICA PIPKINS (RICHTON, MS) went 2-3 with a double a run batted in and a run scored in the 2-1 win. MACY FULTON (MARION, LA) gave up a run on six hits and a walk to get the win in the pitching circle. She struck out five batters.
 
In the 3-2 victory, BROOKE CHAFFEE (PASS CHRISTIAN HS) collected two hits, including a double and an RBI, and scored a run. MADDY TEAGUE (LONG BEACH HS) went seven innings in the circle for the win. She allowed two runs on eight hits and a walking while striking out four.
 
In Saturday's win, SHADEN MILLER (OCEAN SPRINGS HS) was 2-3 with two runs scored. PAYTON LEWIS (ALEXANDRIA, LA, ALEXANDRIA HS) was 2-4 with a double and two RBI's. Pipkins had an RBI triple while
MORGAN BROWN (BRAXTON, MS, PUCKETT HS) and Fulton both doubled.
 
KEELY FORTENBERRY (TYLERTOWN, MS) pitched four innings to get the win. She allowed no hits while striking out four and walking two.
 
The Lady Bears had five hits in the loss. Pipkins had a double.
 
The Lady Bears make their home debut Tuesday when they host Coahoma. The first pitch of the twinbill is scheduled for 1:00.
