Bears split at Louisiana College

The Southwest Bears opened their season with a doubleheader split at Louisiana College Saturday. The Bears won the nightcap, 10-1, behind the performance of starting pitcher Brady Badon ( North Pike HS) while Louisiana College won the opener, 8-2.
 
Badon struck out 10 batters while giving up only three hits and walking only one batter in five innings of work to pick up the victory in game two.
 
The Bears picked up 10 hits in their victory. Ross Buckley had a double and three runs batted in while catcher
Trent Gordy ( Germantown HS) had two hits, including a double. Dylan Spiers and Brady Anderson both scored twice.
 
Steven Williams (Summit, MS (Brookhaven Academy)) had two singles for two of the Bears' six hits in game one. Buckley had a double and scored a run. L.D. Coney also had a double while Tanner Whittington drove in a run. Cliff Hurst ( Centreville Academy) took the loss on the mound.
 
The Bears return to the diamond Saturday and make their home debut with a doubleheader against the Arkansas Baptist Buffaloes. Game one is set for a 2:00 start.
