Bears fall at Meridian, 2-1

The Southwest Bears suffered a heart-breaking 2-1 loss at Meridian Wednesday to close out the 2014 soccer campaign. The Bears ended the season at 4-11-2 overall and at 4-5-1 in the MACJC South Division, just missed earning a spot in the state/regional playoffs.
 
Southwest took a 1-0 lead at halftime when Denver Bankston took a pass from Brenden Nicholson and scored at 31:00 of the match. The lead held up until the 72:00 mark when Meridian's Chris Mallette scored to tie the match at 1-1. The hosts then scored the game winner on a goal by Lyle Daugherty at 82:00.
 
Keeper Bryant Boyington saved 14 of 16 shots on goal for the Bears.
