Trio of baseball Bears receive MACJC post-season honors

Kade Scivicque named MACJC First Team All-State and Defensive Player of the Year in his final season with the Bears
Three members of the Southwest baseball team were honored by the MACJC’s coaches at their recent year-end meeting in Jackson. Kade Scivicque, an LSU signee, was selected First Team All-State and the league’s Defensive Player of the Year, while Collin Carroll and Kendric Hodges were both selected Second Team All-State.
 
Scivicque, a catcher/pitcher from Maurepas (LA) High School, led the Bears with a .321 average in his final season in Summit. He also topped the team with four home runs, 12 doubles and 37 runs batted in and had a .991 fielding percentage.
 
Carroll and Hodges split time at first base while also seeing time as the designated hitter. Carroll, a Ridgeland High School graduate, finished the year with a .303 batting average while hitting six doubles and a triple. He had a fielding percentage of .968. Hodges, a freshman from North Pike, ended the season with a .307 batting average while collecting six doubles and a home run.
