Southwest Mississippi Men's Basketball played the Mississippi Delta Trojans at home on Saturday, February 7th in a 72-57 win.

The Bears started off hot in the first half going up 20-5 in the first ten minutes of the game, but the Trojans inched back as the half continued.

Southwest came with intensity in the first half with a nice performance from Robert Flantroy II. Flantroy II had a steal that he self-converted into two points for the Bears followed by a lob for a Leano Rolle slam that built the momentum for Southwest.

The pair would continue the momentum for the Bears with a Flantroy II corner three and an easy Rolle layup to cap off a 30-29 half with the Bears leading.

The Bears did not slow down in the second starting it off with a Cy Merrett three pointer less than 30 seconds into the half.

Leano Rolle continued to dominate taking advantage of more easy buckets as well as a backward slam off of a perfect lob from Merrett.

Southwest expanded their lead off of four three pointers in a row from Courterius Scott, Leano Rolle, and Robert Flantroy II.

The Bears refused to let off the gas with another Merrett lob turned Rolle slam with 7:25 left on the clock to put Southwest up 64-45.

A few sets of free throws later and the Bears found themselves with a 72-57 home win over the Trojans.

Leano Rolle's dominant showing left him with 22 points. Robert Flantroy II followed with 12 points. Courterius Scott, Cy Merrett, and Chidi Nwosu each had 10 points of their own.

"When he [Rolle] plays like that, I think we're a different team," said Head Coach Corey Schmidt when asked about Leano Rolle's performance against Mississippi Delta.

The Bears (11-12, 5-2*conference) will look for back to back wins once again as they take on Coahoma at home on Monday, February 9th.
