Lady Bears defeated at Holmes

Box Score Thursday night proved to be a long and hard one for the Lady Bears as they ended up on the wrong end of a 69-39 game against the Holmes Lady Bulldogs in Goodman.

The Lady Bears found themselves down 20-0 after the first quarter of play. They picked up their first points on a Kori Ware bucket just under the 8:00 mark of the second quarter to trail 27-2.

Six points each from Talana Bond and Mercedes Dorsey helped the Lady Bears to narrow their deficit to 38-15 at the end of the first half.

Holmes maintained a their 20-point plus lead through most of the third quarter. A Keyona Royal layup with just under 0:50 left in the quarter pulled the Lady Bears (2-7) to within 17, 48-31, before Holmes ended the quarter with a 52-31 advantage.

Holmes gained their largest lead of the night, 68-38, with under 4:00 left in the fourth quarter as they went on the claim the win.

Bond and Dorsey both scored 11 points to pace the Lady Bears' offense. As a team, the Lady Bears went 9-13 at the free throw line.
