Bears fall in game one of the Coca-Cola Baseball Challenge

The Bears fell 8-6 to visiting Co-Lin Wednesday night in the opening game of the Coca-Cola Baseball Challenge presented by Powerade.
 
Trailing 2-0, RBI singles from Will Ford and Zach Dearman helped the Bears take a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the second inning.
 
With the score tied at 4-all in the bottom of the fourth, Ford led off with a single. He scored later in the inning on the first of two DJ Lewis base hits to give the Bears (6-3) a 5-4 advantage.
 
Following a pair of errors, A Logan Larrimore base hit gave the Bears what proved to be their final run of the game and a 6-4 lead.
 
Co-Lin (5-2) would go on to score solo runs in the sixth and ninth innings a two in the seventh to escape with the win.
 
Gage Kiser took the loss on the mound for the Bears, allowing two runs (one unearned) on three hits and a walk in two innings of relief. He struck out three batters.
 
Tyler White had a double and two singles for the Bears while Michael Buck doubled. Cody Ellzey had an RBI.
 
The Bears return to the diamond Thursday afternoon in New Orleans when they face the Delgado Community College Dolphins. Game one of the doubleheader is scheduled for a 2:00 first pitch.
