Lady Bears come up short at Co-Lin

The Lady Bears gave it their best shot, but it proved to be not quite enough as they dropped a 56-51 MACJC South Division contest on the road at Co-Lin Thursday night.
 
An Amari Pittman three-pointer gave the Lady Bears (6-7, 1-3) an early 3-0 lead in the first quarter. Later, an 8-2 run, capped by another Pittman trey, had the Lady Bears on top 13-9 with 1:40 on the clock. They would hold a 14-12 lead at the end of the quarter.
 
Nia Henderson laid the ball in the bucket with 8:38 left in the second quarter to give the Lady Bears their largest lead of the night, 18-12.
 
Co-Lin would outscore the Lady Bears 10-4 over the next few minutes to knot the game at 22-22 with 2:44 left in the quarter. They would go on to take a 28-25 lead in the locker room at intermission.
 
The Lady Bears outscored Co-Lin (12-1, 3-1) 6-2 to open the third quarter and regain the lead, 31-30, with 7:46 on the clock.
 
Co-Lin quickly came back to take a 35-31 lead, with 5:03 showing. They held a 42-38 advantage at the end of the quarter.
 
Buckets from Jamaya Galloway and three points from Ty Lee helped the Lady Bears go on top 45-42 with 6:13 left in the final quarter. Co-Lin then outscored the Lady Bears 8-0 to take a 50-45 lead with 3:32 left to play and they would go on to win by the same margin.
 
Pittman scored 16 points for the Lady Bears to lead all scorers. The Lady Bears went 16-22 at the free throw line.
 
Camryn Davis led Co-Lin in scoring with 11 points. She and her teammates made 13 of 24 free throws.
 
The Lady Bears take a few days off before returning to the court on January when they take on the Jones Lady Bobcats, in Summit, in a 5:30 South Division game. The Lady Bears will host Heroes Night with all law enforcement, medical and military personnel admitted free.
