LSUA JV takes two from Bears in Alexandria

Despite outhitting their hosts 24-16 on the day, the Bears dropped a non-conference doubleheader to the LSUA Generals JV squad Wednesday afternoon 14-9 and 5-1.

Run-scoring singles by
Ray Hutchinson and Chance Groue gave the Bears a 2-0 first-inning lead of game one. Groue would later add a second base hit.

The Generals scored three times in their half of the second inning to go up 3-2.

The Bears regained the lead, and went on top 4-3, in the top of the third when
Scooter Ginn reached on a lead-off walk and scored on T Tez Cole's triple to centerfield. Cole then scored when Groue grounded out.

Four runs in the bottom of the third put the Generals back in the lead, 7-4, a lead they would not relinquish.

With the Bears trailing 13-4,
Brantley Hughes, on base via walk, scored from third on Groue's fly out to make the score 13-5 in the top of the sixth.

With the score 14-5 in the top of the seventh, the Bears scored the final four runs of the game.
John Marcus McDowell and Hughes both had RBI singles, Ginn drove in one run with his second double, and third hit, of the game and Andrew Beesley scored on a passed ball.

Carr Young took the loss on the mound for the Bears, allowing five runs (three earned) on three hits and two walks in two innings of work. He struck out four batters.

Crishaun Speight singled twice in the game while Austin Moen had a double. Beesley also hit safely.

The Generals scored all five of their game-two runs in their half of the first inning.

The Bears got their only run of the game in the top of the second when Hughes' two-out line-drive single to centerfield scored courtesy runner
Gerald Groue.

Tyler Pigott surrendered five earned runs on three hits and a pair of walks in the first inning to take the loss on the mound for the Bears.

Beesley, Cole, Chance Groue and
Alex Smith each had two singles for the Bears while Ginn and McDowell both had a single.

The Bears are scheduled to return to the diamond on Saturday in Clarksdale with an MACJC doubleheader versus the Coahoma Tigers. Game one of the two game set is slated to start at 1:00.
