It was another tough night for the Southwest Lady Bears as they dropped a 77-55 decision to visiting Holmes. The Southwest men came out on top 75-50.
The Lady Bears (3-9) played Holmes close for the first few minutes. Lacey Orr found the bottom of the net with 17:35 to play in the first half to put Southwest on top 4-2 and an Alexis Avery free throw gave the host a 5-4 lead with 16:26 on the clock.
The Lady Bulldogs (9-2) then went on an 18-6 run to take a 22-11 lead with 9:10 to go before the break and they went into the locker room on top 40-22 at the half.
The second half was all Holmes as they built their lead to as many as 30 points, 62-32, with 10:24 to go and went home with the 22-point victory.
The Lady Bears' Shaniece Sheffield led all scorers with 22 points on the night. Shanekqua Bibbs was also in double figures with 12 points.
Orr totaled nine points while Taylor Williams netted six. Avery had four points while Julencia Brown added two. Southwest made 12 of 16 free throws.
Kierra Gilmore scored 18 points to lead Holmes. The Lady Bulldogs made 13 of 22 free throws.
